wilson's latest update!
wilson is doing a great job being a cute puppy! that is in fact what he does best. he has been a master in his puppy classes and can now sit, lay down, wait, shake, and come here. he steals our hearts daily and we love him! on feb 17th our neighbors are getting one of wilson's 1/2 brothers or sisters! we are pumped for some more puppy love!

deb-girl the sewing whiz!
i have enjoyed having handy parents throughout my life. my father is an amazing handyman and my mother the best seamstress i know. who would have ever guessed that pottery barn would sell you window treatments with certain side specifications that weren't actually to those measurements?!
deb to the rescue! our dining room has the proper length and width window treatments! wahoo! the best part was these were purchased on sunday and then up and the proper width by monday afternoon! joe & carrie hung the rods while i was "site supervisor" saying "little to the left," "down a hair" and other non productive comments....thanks mom for being amazing and yet again blowing me away!
By the way these curtains, though I wouldn't recommend if you didnt either have someone who was able to alter the length or if length didn't matter were the Casual Cotton Drape from Pottery Barn 50" x 96" was just right for our house with the alterations mom did!

sick [snow] days
we have had some sick snow days here at this davis house and i have been thankful for my hoarding of items that those of you who haven't been sick yet this year may not have! don't forget have clorox clean up wipes and lysol disinfectant spray handy for starters in terms of cleaning items. some things we have been thankful for since we've been home sick and stranded from civilization is oatmeal or something similar to that which you can just make really fast and is warm and yummy!
another thing that you can make from scratch with a few items that most people have in their house at all times i made for joe on monday am for breakfast...it was also one of the few things we were allowed to make as kids since you didn't need many ingredients or fancy tools [and you cant screw it up]
french toast
what you need...
bread [french bread is my fave but normal sandwich bread works too]
3 eggs
1/4 cup half and half
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp granulated sugar
little bit of vegetable oil [like a tablespoon]
what to do...
heat the little bit of vegetable oil in a frying pan. meanwhile crack the eggs and beat. add 1/2 and 1/2, cinnamon, and sugar in a pyrex pie dish. mix well. place bread in mixture and flip saturating both sides. place in frying pan and cook approx. 1 min on each side or until browning. serve with powdered sugar and syrup!
dr. price at piedmont hospital's emergency room was giggling at my legal pad list with everything joe ate that day and when he got to french toast, he said wow i do love french toast!
we are happy that joe just has the flu [even though he had to endure a spinal tap] and i wish i wasn't sick now too. at least the roads are keeping most people home and we aren't missing out on anything overly exciting. hopefully this $60 tamiflu prescription will kick it to the curb fast for us both. in the mean time my long time favorite friend, delsym, is keeping me company...
